Errors Griffith's Valuation ??
« on: Friday 02 January 09 14:10 GMT (UK) »
I have a question about Griffith’s Valuation. In GV for my ancestral farm, the tenant has the surname that I am looking for but he has a given name that has never appeared before or since then in our family. Since GV is type-set, I am thinking that there was an error in transferring the handwritten information to the type-set. Is there a handwritten version of GV available?

I understand there may be some original notebooks from the valuation in the Land Registry offices.

I've never seen them myself but at least some do exist.

Hi,
In the public record office Northern Ireland there are original Revision books for the Griffiths Valuation. These date from 1864 and record annual changes in land holdings. However I have never seen an original version of the initial valuation itself.
