I just wondered if it was available to buy, as I have quite a few I'd like to look up. I have the disk of Phillimore's parish registers for Suffolk, but as I understand it the Boyd's Index has greater coverage for Suffolk.

I wonder could you do me a favour Janglaschu and Suffolk Sue and see if there is a marriage for Isaac Girling around 1800/1820 unfortunately I don't know where.  Because of this it might be a very longwinded search - I don't know how it works - please don't go to any great trouble,
Regards,
Abiam

Hi Abiam

There isn't an Isaac Girling marriage listed on the Suffolk Marriage Index 1813-1837 and couldn't find one in the right time frame on Boyds index.

Ah, that does help in a perverse sort of way!  The only clues I have are Suffolk, a niece and Bermondsey Surrey, a daughter.  So now it will be down to Surrey to come up trumps.
Thank you so much for looking for me and so promptly,
Regards,
Abiam

Boyds index isn't complete, there are MANY marriages not listed. The marriage you are looking for could still be in Suffolk.

I did find the following burial.

Isaac  GIRLING
Date of burial:    29 June 1832
Place of burial:    St John Horsleydown
Age at death:    52
Approximate year of birth:    1780
Address at death:    Bermondsey St

Thank you!!!  I have just spent a couple of hours looking at the Resource page before seeing if I had any replies.  How daft am I?  That is very helpful I hope.  Can I ask if there is a ******* Girling female who died in St John Horsley Down?
At least I now have an address (if it is him of course) and a possible age and no wonder I can't find him anywhere on the 41 or 51 census.
Thank you Sue, I was beginning to think he was a figment of his daughters imagination
Abiam
Edit: couple of typos

Hi Abiam,

Just out of curiousity have you found where Margaret was living 1841? Was she in service or living with possible relatives?
