I have George's marriage certificate (the one you referenced). His father was John England a tiler. George was also a tiler. There is a family in Islington then later Pancras c. 1840 - 1880 that were tilers. It seems to be a family business. In the 1841 census of this family there is a John England, but I have been unable to find him in later census records. I have not been able to find anything on George from his birth c.1861 to his first appearance aged 18 in 1881 on his marriage certificate and the 1881 census returns.
The older members of this 'tiling' family came from the Bristol area. Tiling doesn't seem to be a very common occupation in the census records so my feeling is that he is some how linked to these people. However, the strongest link I have is the Emma Alfred George connection on 1901 & 1911 census records.
Looks like I'll have to wait for the release of the full records to get a better idea.
