1841 Census
« on: Friday 09 January 09 01:34 GMT (UK) »
Would anyone be able to find a Thomas Merrick or Merricks and his wife Jane in any of the early census for me.  He should be around 60 years of age abt 1840.  Hopefully living in the Stafford area.  One child was born in Tillington in 1814.

Hello Suzy,

I cannot see any sign of Thomas or Jane in Tillington in 1841. There appears to be two Merricks families in Stafford though, those of William(55) and Mary living in Forebridge; and Joseph(45) and Elizabeth living on Gaol Rd.

To search  Tillington if anyone wants to look, the reference is
Staffordshire - parish St Mary @ St Chad, - Stafford - Ed 14

Edited as I had put in the wrong name for William's wife.
Names: Glover, Bissell, Gregory, Rigby, Willett, Wright, Taylor, Coleclough ,Wells, Foster, Morris, Weatherer, Spooner, James

Census information is Crown Copywright from www.nationalarchives.gov.uk

Thank you for looking.  He may of died before the census, so I will have to get a family member to go to the record office for me again, and see if any death records for Thomas and Jane show up.
His son William does show up in Stafford census 1841, married to Mary.  It has been a real battle with this family.

A 1841 census has been found for a Thomas Merrick age 57 living with his mother Mary in Bradley, still not too certain if they are related, but will keep just in case something else shows up.
