New to this site - so forgive
My GGGrandfather was James Begent born Chancery Lane in 1804
He married Rachael Lawrence Halsey on the 7 Oct 1827 (IGI) and died St Olave Southwark 1868
There is no reference at all to his birth, however there is a John Begent born 8th July 1804 christened 29 Jul at St George the Martyr Southwark who does not seem to appear on any Begent family trees and I am querying whether this John Begent could have in fact used the name James to distinquish him from his Father also John Begent.
If anyone has the Parish records for Chancery Lane - can anyone solve this puzzle. Thanks
