I would think she used the OWENS name as did her sisters and mother.  Assumptions again

The only snippet I can find and the enrolment only appears once.

There seems to be more than one lady of the name Alice Owens.

Went to the PROV today and checked out the teachers records of Alice Owens.  Wrong one but, born 14/9/1876.

You probably have this information about the daughter.  A probate notice in The Argus 18 Jan 1945 says Mabel Florence GALLETLY, widow of Carnegie (street given) and names executors as John and William Galletly.
