trying to find Hugh Orr born abt 1853 in wigtownshire, father William John

Hi Papakura,
I looked on the 1851 census and the only William Orr I found was in Kirkmaiden
with his mother
Janet    Orr Head W74  Farmer of 4 acres   born kirkmaiden
William Orr Son    U39   Ag lab                     born Kirkmaiden

William Orr married Agnes McClelland 21 April 1853 Kirkmaiden, I can't find Hugh but there is a John born 19 Jan 1856. The best thing to do is ask if someone can do a look up on the 1861 census to find them.

Thanks for that, someone did do a check on the  1961 census for me and couldn't find them, they may have gone to Ireland as Hugh was married there in 1871

The family of Orr that you are researching - Hugh Orr was my great great grandfather and his daughter Jane Orr (Boyd) was my great grandma her son John Boyd was my granddad.
