Birth - Devon
« on: Wednesday 14 January 09 07:41 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to locate the birth of  ELIZABETH RUNDELL (1816)
in St.Andrew, Devon. Its her parents I really need to find, so that I can continue my tree and to make sure I have the correct line.
On checking records, It seems she married WILLIAM LETHBRIDGE in Devon. The only reason I think this is because one of their children was christened Joseph Rundell Lethbridge (1839)
I sent for a birth certificate for another son WILLIAM RICHARD LETHBRIDGE (1849) and it had ELIZABETH RUNDELL for his mother.
On checking, I cannot find a marriage certificate for these two either.
If anyone can find me anything on Elizabeth or her family, I will be very grateful.

Dot

Hi Dot65

I presume you have William's death date as Elizabeth was  a widow in 1851.

Deaths Mar 1849
Lethbridge  William     Plymouth  9 264

Deaths Jun 1896   Lethbridge  Elizabeth  83  Plympton  5b 142

Have you have all the censuses?

Thanks for replying.
I have looked through the census regarding ELIZABETH but I would like to find anything regarding her birth or find her marriage certificate.
If she was born in 1816, she would be same age as her brother JOHN (that's if she does belong to the other family of RUNDELL that lives in Willow Street). Unless I can locate any birth or marriage I am really not sure who her parents are, so I may be going down the wrong line.
Maybe, you will come up with something for me.
Many thanks

Dot

Hi Dot

In 1841 ages were either rounded up or down so Elizabeth and John could appear to be the same age but could be a few years apart. I am not sure exactly how it worked but will try to find out ...

Thanks for that Deb.
Yes, so really it makes sense that they are brother & sister.
If you can find anything else for me, I would be grateful.
I do have a large amount of information regarding the RUNDELLS but there are many different lines that I do not want to go down the wrong one with ELIZABETH.
My GR tree starts off with my Grandfather EDWARD RUNDLE
Regards

Dot

Hi Dot

I wonder if the following will help?

Ive found a baptism for an Elizabeth RUNDLE on 6th November 1814 at Stoke Damerel. She was the Daughter of Joshua and Elizabeth RUNDLE, a Shipwright, living at "Dock".

This may be your Elizabeth.

Elizabeth RUNDELL married William LETHBRIDGE at St Andrew's Church, Plymouth on 10th May 1835.

Ive found three baptisms at Charles Church, Plymouth that may interest you:

Charles William LETHBRIDGE, bapt 22nd July 1836, son of William and Elizabeth LETHBRIDGE, a Cordwainer of Kinterbury Street, Plymouth.

Benjamin Richard LETHBRIDGE, bapt 21st September 1838, son of William and Elizabeth LETHBRIDGE, a Labourer of Westwell Street, Plymouth

Joseph Henry Randell LETHBRIDGE, bapt 21st September 1838, son of William and Elizabeth LETHBRIDGE, a Labourer of Westwell Street, Plymouth - a note on the Parish Register indicated that the name "Henry" appears to be crossed out.

Hope this is of interest.

Graham
