Hi I descend from Clark - John - Andrew - Andrew - my branch has kind have come to end ! Only two of John's male children married and had offspring Andrew - Andrew have no more male descendants John had another child George Sutherland Mauchan - who changed to Maughan and ran a shop in Rhodesia - he had one child Norman who I have not located .

Clark Machan married Elizabeth Altria daughter of Caesar Altria (Italian Glassblower) and Janet Deans. He wea a Quill Dresser (weaving industry) - the family belonged to the Church of Scotland. They married in Aberdeen on 9/8/1828 their eldest son was born there James Smith on 13 May 1829 - he married Agnes McClellan, next child Robert Clark 4/6/1832 born in Lanark - did not marry. Jane Jean born30/4/1834 in Lanark married James Robertson Miller, John born c 1836 Lanark married Ann Sutherland, William b c 1838 vanishes from records after 1851, Andrew Altera b 9/6/1842 married Catherine Downie Buchannan, Elizabeth c 1845 in Pellinhelin did not marry , and Margaret b c 1847 in Mockshire did not marry - Clark does not appear on the 1851 census so must have died in Renfrewshire between the conception of Margaret and the 1851 census. There is only one marriage for a Clark Machan on ScotlandsPeople and no marriage for a Elizabeth McGee to anyone named Clark

Presbyterian churches have elders. I think some other modern denominations also have elders, but I doubt if these were active in Scotland in the early 19th century.

The sons henry mcGie   August McPherson ancestry has attributed to her are probably sons of her lodger James McGregor 49 gardener ...I couldn't find original on SP to check
