Many thanks Priscilla and Dave.  The 1851 census with kids listed confirms that this is the family ( Edward, & Mary Ann, my gg grandparents) and George (my g grandfather). Its wonderful to have them placed as well as have Edward's birthplace.

I am not sure what the references are as to 1848 birth registration, Priscilla.  From a Parish registration office?  I am in Canada and not sure of the records in the UK.

Are they likely to have emigrated from Exmouth? Any passenger records available online that you know of?

Thanks so much,  Anne
