1911 Census - Townland Error
« on: Thursday 15 January 09 23:42 GMT (UK) »
The error I'm talking about is one in the transcription of a townland name, which is consistently wrong for ALL entries.

County:  Down
DED:  Warrenpoint Rural
Townland:  Corrays

In fact, the name of the townland is CORRAGS (aka Corrogs, Corrigs etc).  If you look at the reverse of the Form A images, you can see clearly that this is the case.   The entire townland needs to be re-indexed, therefore.

I know that there's a facility for reporting transcription errors, but it's limited to the indexed Form A individual entries.   I've emailed the general National Archives mailbox in the hope the message gets passed on.

May help to explain some people's problems . . .

And another one:

County:  Down
DED:  Clonallan Upper
Townland:  Killtown

The name is in fact Milltown.
