Obbard, Obbards and Obard - All
« on: Thursday 10 February 05 14:13 GMT (UK) »
I am searching for references to the surname Obbard and the variants Obbards and Obard where ever and when ever they occur.

The study is registered with the Guild of One-Name Studies in Category C which means I am working towards having what could be considered a substantial body of world wide data collected over a period of time.

The Obbard name occurs mainly in Sussex, Kent and London but has also been found in further afield for example in India, Canada and America.

Oh Wow Cougar - has anyone told you lately you are wonderful?  :-*

I was aware of the existence of Charles H, Charles and Augusta but had nothing (so far) linking them together so this is wonderful

Charles H must have been quite resourseful - Ball Dress Maker, Wine Merchant, Commercial Traveller he did them all.

Susan is throwing me slightly as the only Susan I have come across of this period was Charles H's wife so odd that she should be up the road unless of course she is another Susan - oh how I love this hobby for every fact resolved another mystery appears ;D

Wow Cougar you're good
Thank you for finding another for me and yes, Ann Kendrick became Mrs George Obbard in 1855

Yes I like the mysteries - well most of the time - this hobby would be no fun at all if all the information just fell into your lap.  Mind you there are a few brick walls where I wouldn't mind that happening.

Thanks once again for finding these for me.

Sylvia

Hi Sylvia

There is a one name study of the OBBARD Family.  You may be able to find more details on the Guild of One Name Studies website at www.one-name.org

On the home page click "Registered Names" and you will find the details of the person who has registered the study.

There is also a website at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~obbard/

Best wishes

Hi Ticker
Thanks for taking the time to look up that information, sadly neither of them are new to me, the One Name Study registered with the Guild is mine as indeed is the RootsWeb Freepages site you found. ;D

Still its nice to know that both of these can be found by someone else, as its quite an unusual surname so neither of these have had too much in the way of "passing trade".

Thanks for looking though

Sylvia
