I’m trying to find any Masseys from County Down, possibly from Dromara. My 3GGrandfather left Northern Ireland around 1780-90. I found a YDNA connection to Masseys who immigrated to Ontario, Canada in early 1800s. Nathaniel Massey born early 1800s in Ireland. Their family came from Down and his father, William Massey, ran a flour mill in Ireland. I’ve researched mills in Down and came across one in Dromara that was in possession of a James Massey in 1700s. Looked at some parish records but couldn’t find any definitive. I also located a commemorative biographical book on Kent, Ontario stating the Canadian Masseys came from County Down. That book had some information on the family in Ireland. Mentions the great grandfather and grandfather. I haven't been able to find this family in Ireland with certainty. Ive attached pages from the book.If you can help, I’d appreciate it!

...........
Daniel left Drogheda apparently after refusing to doff his cap to his social betters resulting in him ending up in Roden Street.  His son Bernard died 3rd September 1916 during the Somme offensive, his brother in law William as you say died at Messiness.  Daniel Jr died after the war due to breathing difficulty sustained during service, Joseph survived and was my grandfather.
............

Daniel Smith died on 17th July 1920 at The Abbey, Whiteabbey. His father (also Daniel) from 99 Roden Street was the informant. The cause of death was pulmonary tuberculosis and exhaustion.
