Hi  :)

Croeso  y Rootschat  :D

Rings a bell - I think it was Bryn Rhias which is the Whitehurst/Pentre* area of Chirk parish - not far from Cefn.

I'll have a look at my bits and pieces. What info are you looking for?

* yep - just looked at the 1901 - it's next to Old Castle Gardens which was Whitehurst. Father b. Acrefair and mother b. Rhos   :)

Hey Gadget!
I'm actually trying to get back before the 1901 Census  - anything and everything :)
I have Mary Ann's Birth Cert
She was indeed born in "Brynrhias, Chirk" (can't read properly - it was joined up scribble!)

Her parents Joseph Lloyd and Ellen Griffiths were married in Rhuabon (1890), joseph was 19 & a collier, his father was given as Joseph, also a Colier
Ellen was 20 and her father was Evan Griffiths also a collier
Witnesses were Joseph Thomas dodd and wait for it...
 Lizzie Jones (aaaagh!)  :(
Both Joseph and Ellen were noted as having their Abodes in "Rhos"

Cheers  :)

Hi

You should be able to get them in the 1881 with their parents on www.familysearch.org  Joseph was down as b. Acrefair in the 1901 and Ellen as Rhos.

I did trace this family a few years ago when I was looking for a Joseph Lloyd who was a friend of my grandparents(he used to give me half a crown when he came to visit us!). They had a son Joseph as I recall and I was interested in the son.   I then decided that it wasn't the right family . I don't think I kept the notes, unfortunately  :(

Just noticed that you have her mother as Ellen Lloyd nee Griffiths. On the 1901, Mary's mother is down as Mary  :-\

RG13/2546 Folio 146 Page 1

Will try to find them on the 1891 when they should be married - maybe in Rhos as that was where their eldest child, Joseph, was born.

In 1891 they are in Rhos

Erw Gerrig RG12/4612 Folio 183 Page 14

Joseph Lloyd, 20, collier, b. Rhos
Ellen, 21, b. Rhos

Odd that she's Mary on the 1901  :-\

As Joseph's age seems to vary, this is a possible on the 1881

RG11/5513 F 86 P 6

Street Issa, Penycae, Ruabon parish

Joseph Lloyd, 49, coal miner, b. Ruabon
Elizabeth 46, b. Street Issa
Jenkin, 18, b. Ruabon
Thomas, 17, b. Benbelt (?)
John 14, b. Benbelt (?)
Joseph, 7, b. Benbelt (?)

Did a little chasing on the Lloyds today.
1871 - Acrefair - Ruabon
Found children Elizabeth (17) Jenkin (11) Thomas (7) John (4)
1861 - Street Issa
i can't actually read part of it because my geography/ knowledge is lousy!
it looks like "Dynbyulley Ucha"  ???

in 1851 - i haven't actually found the connection as yet there was a family living in roughly the same address
Elizabeth Lloyd - widow - 60 (poss. Joseph Lloyd snr.'s Mother???)
Joseph Lloyd (20)
Mary Lloyd (11)
yet again spending money hand over fist and getting nowhere very fast - that i suppose will come at a later date
Did however go on North wales BMD searched for a marriage of Joseph Lloyd to a Elizabeth
* Elizabeth their daughter was born c. 1854 - so i used that as a reference point (1853 - 1855) found a Joseph marrying Elizabeth WILLIAMS in Ruabon St Mary's 1853

i guess my next stop there is to get the certificate of Joseph Jnr born c.1874 in Ruabon

also found some info on jenkin in 1891 and 1901
He was married to a Mary Ann
Did a marriage search on that between 1884 -1891 only one to a Mary hughes
so happy days!
