My first thought was this is going live!?!?  ???

http://www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/Corporation/LGNL_Services/Leisure_and_culture/Records_and_archives/Ancestry+digitisation.htm

Fingers crossed.

Thanks for the link, I had not seen that before. So hopefully not long to go then, the other link I read on here with a quote from Ancestry said it was going live "soon".

I have been having problems with dreadful slowness on Ancestry since December. I have been in email and phone communication with them. As far as I can make out, the problem is due to the huge expansion of the site in both records and members, which has overloaded their servers. However, this doesn't seem to be affecting everyone to the same degree. At one end of the scale there are people who have no problems at all, while at the other end there are some for whom the site is unusable, and Ancestry are baffled. They told me that they have a dedicated team working on it and that new servers are being installed.

It does seem to have improved a bit in the last day or two, but I doubt it will ever be as quick as it used to be.

I don't know if it will help or you have tried it but there is a link/button at the top that says "switch back to old seach experiance" might speed things up for you? :)

Hi Stewart

Thanks, but I have always had the old search. What I did do when I read your post, was switch to the new! And it was lovely and fast. But then, for comparison, I switched back to the old - just as fast!

Ancestry do have these odd moments of speed and five minutes from now it could be back to normal. I will have to wait for it to slow down, and then run a comparison.

Yes, just tried it again and it's approx 45 second waits between each click, both old and new. And that's good compared with some of the waiting times.

At least they didn't play me music while I waited.

I reported some missing images over the weekend and I have checked them again today and they are still not there. This is the first time I have run into this, I got a standard auto reply back from them.

For those enquiring about the LMA digitisation project, the first records to most probably go online will be the Guardian & Poor Law records. Parish registers will be much later in the year  :-\
