1851 census - Monkwearmouth
« on: Friday 11 February 05 16:16 GMT (UK) »
I am hoping you will be able to find OSWALD families

OSWALD, William b 1825 Penshaw, Durham - collier
OSWALD, Mary Ann b 1823 Winlaton. Durham
OSWALD, Robert b1851 Monwearmouth or Southwick

OSWALD, Robert b before 1804 married at Penshaw, Durham
OSWALD, Elizabeth (PATTERSON)- WIFE- b before 1804

OSWALD, Robert b 1825 Penshaw, Durham - collier (twin of Wm above)
Robert's wife was Margaret b Sunderland

These families were in Hanley, Stoke on Trent by 1861

Some of the family were in Penshaw in 1835 so may be there on1841 census. Perhaps Ralph b 1827 and Annie b 1835 may be with Robert & Eliz OSWALD

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Genie 13

Hi Emma,
Thank you very much!
You have found Eliz. (Patterson)OSWALD's brother and her son Ralph. Perhaps Eliz OSWALD & Robt were dead by 1841.

I just received birth info about Robt. OSWALD b Nov. 1850, Wandless Place, High Southwick, Monkwearmouth. Father, William is listed as a sawyer & Mother, MaryAnn, formerly DOBSON.

With this new info, is it possible to find Wm., Mary Ann & Robt. OSWALD on the 1851 census?

Thank You,
Genie 13

Hi,

The site I've looked on is www.durhamrecordsonline.com which has proved very useful for me and my north eastern ancestors.  It's a pay per view site, but it's not expensive and they email the information you view to your inbox.  Try it!

Regards, Emma ;)
