Hi Kaz04

I just found Herbert aged 16 in the 1901 census living in Newtown, Denbigh son of Thomas and Elizabeth. Thomas and Elizabeth both give their birthplaces as Ruabon. Thomas is a coillery repairer below ground.

This may help in searching for a marriage.

Hi Kaz,

What makes you think they were married in Lancashire when they were all seemingly born in Denbighshire (according to the 1901* census anyway)? :)

With a common name like Edwards, I think you will need to purchase Herbert's birth certificate - it will show Elizabeth's maiden name.

Hi

Rather than spend on a few possible certs due to the commoness of the surname, it would be wiser to send off for Herbert's birth certificate.

Another way is to look on earlier censuses such as the 1871 for any Elizabeth's born in Ruabon at around the same time as Elizabeth and cross reference them against any Thomas Edwards marriages.

Elizabeth was 40 in 1901 so born around 1861.

In 1891, Elizabeth's birth place is shown as Bersham Wrexham.
