1901 census
« on: Monday 02 February 09 14:31 GMT (UK) »
Hi, I am looking for a George Gellie (Gillie) on the 1901 census. He was born in 1893, I think in Glasgow. His father was Alexander Gellie, born in Peterhead. His mother was Agnes Crichton. They were married in Dennistoun in 1893 ? before or after George's birth!! Alexander then went on to marry Mary Ann young ? when and apparently Agnes was sent to an asylum. Any info greatly appreciated. Cass ???

Thanks Mat, that was just what I was looking for. It seems that he was still married to Agnes in 1901 and in England. We thought that he had sent her to an asylum and then moved to England changing his name to Gillie and re-marrying. It was supposed that he changed the spelling of his name because he was not divorced from Agnes before re-marrying!! Will have to try to find death of Agnes and marriage to Mary but this might be easier as it is in England. Cass :)
