Finneys and Thomas in Blaina

The other branch of the family that I'm looking at is as follows:

Richard THOMAS (head) b. 1822, NewLand, Forset of Dean
Emma THOMAS (formerly FINNEY, nee FINNEY - obviously a common name in these parts!) b. 1835, Charrington, Shropshire

Children:
Catherine FINNEY (presumably from a first marriage)
Reuben FINNEY
Thomas THOMAS
Richard THOMAS
Alice THOMAS
Charles Finney THOMAS
William THOMAS
Elias THOMAS
Henry THOMAS

I think they were all born in Blaina and most of the men in the family worked as coal miners

Ages would be good to give me a rough gide of birth dates, also if there's any sign of the parents before they married, but I guess this is a long shot as most of our family seemed to marry very young!

found him on the 1881 and 1891 censuses married to an Elizabeth and living in Bedwallty

Bizarre isn't it?  My list of this family's children is growing ever longer!!  It seems that Emma Finney married another Finney initially and I think she ws widowed.  She then married Richard Thomas,but it seems strange that they gave one of their children (Charles) the Finney name as a middle name.  I also have some confusion over Thomas - was he a Finney or a Thomas?

first Thomas child  Richard was born  abt1867 if you look for a marriage on FreeBMD for the year  previous to that  approx and look for a death of a Finney in Blaina the year before that cos she had Thomas Finney in 1865
