Anyone going to KEW - mariners record needed PLEASE!!
« on: Tuesday 03 February 09 22:13 GMT (UK) »
Hi there,

I have recently undertaking the in-laws research for a Wedding Anniversary present in May.  I live in Wales and are appealing for anyone visiting Kew to help.

I have found 3 mariners in the family and these are their details:
Harry (Henry) Brading b.1852 Carisbrooke Isle of Wight
sailed out of Southampton between 1924 and 1938 and became a master mariner.

Harry Brading b.1884 Isle of Wight, Mariner

Charles Brading b.1865 Isle of Wight (a mariner on 1881 census)

I understand the Examination for certificate of competency, the Application for Certificate and Register of Apprentices may hold useful information. (Ref: BT318 (1913-1935), BT352 (1910-1930) and BT317 (1917-1968))

I would be extremely grateful if anyone can help me, Thank you.
Victoria
