seeking info on BURKES, FURLONGS, SUNDERLANDS and LEARYS in Wexford
« on: Wednesday 04 February 09 00:41 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

Can anybody help me please.....

I am just starting to research into my family tree and finding it so hard in trying to race  my irish ancestor's!?

I am looking for the following....

My Grandmother was called Margaret Mary Sunderland c1910, her Mum was Ellen Sunderland ( Nee Furlong ) and her Father was William Sunderland, All born in or around the Ferns area-Enniscorthy-Co wexford-I can't be to sure of Villages or parishes).

My Grandfather was Called Joseph Patrick Burke or Patrick Joseph Burke c1905,Born in or around Ferns-Enniscorthy-Co Wexford, His Parents Where Anne Burke ( Nee Leary ) and his Father Michael Burke-I am unsure where his parents where Born, I assume around the same area?

My Grandparents Moved to a village called Monageer-Enniscorthy-Co Wexford in late 1940's and resided there until they left to move to England in the 1960's.
They had many children-I am told maybe 15 of them) The eldest c1931

My Grandmother Margaret Mary Burke ( Nee Sunderland ) Had 3 Sisters-Elizabeth,Mary & Bridget, I was told that their parents Sadly passed away when they where all very young and they all got placed into a Convent in I believe to be Rosslare Co Wexford?

I would like any information on any of the above people, Sadly the above info is all i have for now as i am living in Uk and finding it extremely hard to gather any info from anywhere?

Would very much appreciate any info, adise or help :)

Thank you

The 1911 and 1901 Wexford census returns are due on line later this year on the National Archives website, which should help your search. (http://census.nationalarchives.ie/)

A website on familysearch has a searchable index of Irish Civil records -   http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#c=1408347;p=2;t=searchable

If you find a possible match on here the GRO should have the records - see www.groireland.ie

Hello,

Many thank for your response! I am stuck and don't know how else to go any further with my search? I live in the UK and i am finding it difficult in finding out any leads to enable me in my search?
I would love to find out Marriage.Births, etc because that would enable me to work backwards...However i only have the info i have put in my last post!

If anybody on here is descended from any of my Ancestors or has any information then please do get in contact.

Thank you

unfortunately there is no way to confirm if any of these are correct without ordering the cert to see the parents names.

there are also a few marriages of people named William Sunderland or Ellen Furlong, but I cant any any crosslink yet...

Hello.

Thanks for the Info....Just found my Grandmothers Birth Cert, she was born Jan 1910-Ferns Enniscorthy. father William Sunderland, mother Ellen Furlong.place of residence Corbetstown.
I am wanting to try and find the marriage of William & Ellen, then i can work back from that.
I believe William and Ellen where aged around 20yrs old when Magaret was born so that gives a date of 1890 for when they where posibly born?

Any Info would be of most help to me

Thank you
