i have John George Skinner (my 3rd gg grandfather) born 1806 in Halsted Kent and married to Sarah Jane Smith on 12 Oct 1834 in Kent
 They migrated to Australia in June 1840 on the Orleana with their 3 children
John Skinner 1837-1896
William Skinner 1836-1903
Sarah Elizabeth Skinner 1839-1874
They had another 8 children all born in Sth Aust
has any one anything on John and sarah from Kent
I am so stuck on this

Do you have any information from the actual marriage of John & Sarah in 1834 ie. parish of residence/names of witnesses?

There is a baptism for a Sarah Elizabeth SKINNER in Chelsfield April 1839 http://www.familysearch.org - could that be the daughter?

May we ask the source of the information that John SKINNER senior was born in Halstead?

Hi I am not sure how I found out it was Halstead. I do know that John and Sarah Skinner emigrated to Australia on the 'Orleana' from London and arrived here on 10 June 1840 - so unfortunately the 1841 Kent cencus is no help.

The William I had listed as their son is actually the son of John and Jane Skinner  who emigrated on the 'Asia' to Austalia and arrived on 16 July 1939.

My John (and Sarah) died on Adelaide on 2 April 1884 and is buried in the Athelstone Primitive Cemetery in Adelaide.
Any help you can give would be terrific.

as i have John and Sarah's actual marriage date -12 October 1834 in Halstead - I am at least pretty sure of that info.
