Hi Ford,

No there isn't any evidence of the Cutler family living or working at Cutler's farm. I don't think they did - I can trace who lived there from the 1830's to 1911 and no Cutlers lived there. Before that I don't know but before this time it was called Priest's farm. William Cutler who was a farmer at Lane End lived in the West Wycombe section of the parish near the Row, Lane End.

Matt

Are you related to the Cutler Family?

That's interesting. They owned a farm but never lived there.

On Reply 10 of this thread other farms (Deerhams Farm) are mentioned along with land in Beaconsfield, businesses, premises, barns, cow houses and stables. The Cutlers seemed to have many varied assets and houses dotted around all over the Parish. They appear to be a wealthy family.

Yes I am related.

Well - the children of William Cutler 1788 didn't exactly keep the money, none of them were very wealthy or climbed above anything than working class on the social ladder. I don't know what happened to Deerham's farm but the boy who it was given to didn't keep it.

William 1775 lived in Lane End until his 1853 death, as a farmer
John 1779 lived in Lane End and later in Burnham until his 1831 death, buried at Fingest, left widow and 9 children.
Richard 1783 I don't know what happened to him
Joseph 1786 lived in Lane End and later in Burnham until his 1831 death.
Benjamin 1788 lived in Great Marlow until his 1811 death, no kids with wife

How are you related? I am William 1747's 6 x great grandson, through his son William, his son William and his son Reuben

I'm not so sure about them not being wealthy and I have a sneaky feeling some of the children kept their assets. You can be wealthy and still be working class.

Tell me, was Rubens father William born in 1811 and did the 1811 William have a brother John who was born in 1815?

Yes Reuben's father William was born in 1810 at West Wycombe, had siblings Elizabeth 1813-1896, John 1814-1886, Hannah 1816-1879, Jane 1818-1881, Richard 1820-1870 and Sarah 1823-1894.

Excellent! Now the John Cutler 1814-1886 must be related to the William Cutler 1746-1788 who you mention in Reply 10 on this thread.

The only thing that is throwing me is the last but one paragraph in Reply 10 which starts “He leaves more land in Beaconsfield to his son John..........”. I recognise some of the assets mentioned in this paragraph but I'm not quite sure how they get from the William born in 1746 to the John born in 1814.

Let's just make sure we are definitely talking about the same people here. What is the direct lineage in between William Cutler 1746-1788 and John Cutler 1814-1886?

No there were two different Johns

John born 1779, William 1747's son
John born 1814, William 1747's grandson

So how exactly is the connection made from the 1747 William to the John of 1814?

Am I right in saying it goes:

William 1747 (father) → John 1770 (son) → John 1814 (grandson)

That last paragraph in Reply 10 that starts with the description of land in Beaconsfield. Whose will is that?

Sorry lol no

William 1747 (father) → William 1775 (son) → John 1814 (grandson)

The land in Beaconsfield is mentioned in the will of William 1747-1788. His son William's will lists only land in Lane End.

How are you related?
