My niece lives just across from the Bunjip state forest, she had her bags packed and ready to move out.  Latest report, all ok and the fire has shifted away from where she is.

Yes Dee, it is a relief, but fires being what they are, well they can change direction at any moment.
I'd prefer she moved out of the area. :(

Jap- I have been to Marysville, and yes a lovely little town, very sad

Heard there are rubberneckers going to look at the fires making things worse.

After the last fires we had the smoke haze over here for a few weeks.   Our guys are probably on standby for if they are needed to help over the ditch.

The loss of lives  is so very  tragic  words  are just that words what can I say, I  will admit to sitting and crying watching  the television .

We tend to  forget  the loss of  our native wildlife ... the orange bellied parrots  has been on  the endangered list for some time now.  Being a bird keeper ourselves  it  made us very sad  this morning  to  think of  the amount of native  birds  who perished in  the blaze.  I  realise  this does not compare with human lives lost but  it is still a terrible loss,

I  was speaking with a friend in Ingham this morning  house  under water and he said  at least we still have a house not like  those poor bastards in Victoria.
Typically Australian  attitude  you  think of  your  fellow Australians and see there is allways someone worse off than you.  Mind you  his house  is  under water his cane farm is under water but can  still see  how lucky he is.

Just announced in a news brief that it is believed that the *@#$%* resposible for lighting many of the fires is returning to reignite in areas where the firefighters had everything under control.

How sick can a person be!

Everything about the devastation of the fires is so horribly tragic. Many tears flowing  throughout our country today, I think.  :'(  :'(

Still feel for the flood victims too......saw pictures of a property near Normanton where most of the cattle have drowned.

But I guess in perspective they would think themselves lucky.  :-\

Let us not forget to mention those amazing, brave fire fighters who are taking on this massive job.
It always amazes me how dedicated these people are.

3 cheers for the fire fighters !

Hope they catch the bas**rd who lit the fires. Sick is right.

My brother is up in Cairns holding back the water  ::)  doing fine though ;)

My thoughts go out to all who have suffered loss during this horrid time here in Victoria.
One can not imagine the range of emotions these people are suffering.
Panic, disbelief, pain, loss, worry, uncertainty, resentment, anger, relief, fear and so many more.

We had a fire about 3 kms from where I live....and we are talking about a Melbourne
suburb, not a rural area, and houses were burnt to the ground. While not directly affecting me
there is a feeling of helplessness.

And all I can say to those disgusting, vile creatures who are lighting these fires -
you will be judged one day and justice will be done.

To all the folk caught up in  the fires in Victoria or the floods in Queensland -
stay safe and our thoughts are with you.
To the firemen and women and everyone who is working to help - THANK YOU ALL
