I think at this point I’m tempted to pay the money and get the marriage cert just to check out the witnesses

Hi
The marriage will give his father's name. Which, from Rosie's baptism find, was Silas.

Cecil/Cyril and Gladys might have had a son?

One uncle was a tank driver and captured in WW2,the other was Navy as was my father.

Is it correct that there were four brothers, sons of Silas and Amelia?

1912  Silas Sidney John
1914  John Samuel James
1915  Cecil George French
1917  Herbert Kitchener

I can see the whole family, including the married daughters, in Penge in 1939, except for John and Cecil.

There are artillery attestations for Silas and John before the war in 1930, Herbert in 1932, and Cyril George French in 1931.

Yes two sisters too . I believe I found the 1939 register on find my past.

They seem to be around the Bromley area.

I don’t have any real info on Cecil beyond what’s been found here by others , quite interesting to find new things out….

John would have been away in 1939

Silas ( their father ) passed away soon after this too

One of the two sisters married twice and ended up in Totnes, I recall going up for the funeral.

John married twice too . With no children from the first marriage
