Teapot made for a Mrs Thomson
« on: Sunday 08 February 09 21:23 GMT (UK) »
I'm very curious about a small James Macintyre/Moorcroft teapot I have in my possesion.  dating from the early 1900's.  It bears a Rothesay coat of arms and on the base is written "Made for Mrs Thomson, Rothesay".  I'd love to know who Mrs Thomson was and why she was presented with a teapot.

A Mr J. R. Thomson designed some buildings/monuments in Rothesay for the Marquess of Bute. Possibly Mrs Thomson was a descendant/family member of his.....you'd have to be able to date your teapot and do a bit of research on the Thomson family.

Sorry....love teapots but not really up on the James Macintyre/Moorcroft history or time frame  :-\
