Coronation Gardens Cemetery lookup:
« on: Tuesday 10 February 09 21:36 GMT (UK) »
Hi
I would like a look up please in the Coronation Gardens Cemetery (Romford) records for Amy LIVERMORE (nee Fountain) who died 25th Oct 1917. Her address at time of death would most likely been 7 Stanley Street, Ilford.
It is possible she was buried as Fountain rather than Livermore for certain reasons.
Many thanks in advance,Cheers Vicki (New Zealand)

Is it possible that someone has mis-heard the words 'Crow Lane' for 'Coronation'?
The only Coronation Gardens I have ever heard of is a park (never used as a cemetery as far as I know) in Leyton in East London about 5 miles from Romford. Maybe someone knows different

I've been there a few times without realising that it was called Coronation Gardens. It's right at the beginning of Main Road where it passes Romford market and next door to the Town Hall - not that that is of any use to someone in NZ!
The last time I was there (about 5 years ago) I saw gravestones which had been placed there behind some trees almost out of sight and at the mercy of vandals, litter-louts, alkies and druggies.
The Victoria History of Essex refers briefly to the history of this bit of land as being opened in 1849, becoming full by 1871 when Crow Lane cemetery was opened and taken over by the Council in 1900

Hi,
I guess that one has to wonder if the council has done anything with the gravestones.  Thanks for your comments- most interesting.
Cheers Vicki

Could I ask you when your Amy Fountain was born or her father?
My Grandmother was an Amy Fountain, Great Aunt was also.
I have one Amy Fountain in my tree born 1878 that I cannot trace.

My birth was registered in Romford, and will be visiting again later in the year.
