Have you considered other spellings ?

eg the 1881 census has

   Census Place:   Abbey, Renfrew, Scotland
Source:   FHL Film 0203566     GRO Ref    Volume 559-3    EnumDist 4    Page 51
   Marr   Age   Sex   Birthplace
Patrick JAFFERY   M   34    M   Johnstone, Renfrew, Scotland
   Rel:   Head
   Occ:   Builder (Master)

Hi Jim
My first thought was that your YOB for Mary JEFFREY nee LONGWILL born ca 1820 was too early for a woman who had a child (Thomas) in 1870. Not sure if the 1820 was a posting typo, but  I found  Mary and family on C81 (same address as the Patrick in Falkyrn's reply)

Dwelling:   Mary St Roslea P
   Census Place:   Abbey, Renfrew, Scotland
Source:   FHL Film 0203566     GRO Ref    Volume 559-3    EnumDist 4    Page 51
   Marr   Age   Sex   Birthplace
William JAFFERY   M   60    M   Stewarton, Ayr, Scotland
   Rel:   Head
Occ:   Builder Emp 13 Men & 1 Boy
Mary JAFFERY   M   53    F   Dalry, Ayr, Scotland
   Rel:   Wife
Jessie B. JAFFERY   U   22    F   Johnstone, Renfrew, Scotland
   Rel:   Daur
   Occ:   Not In Sch
John JAFFERY   U   20    M   Johnstone, Renfrew, Scotland
   Rel:   Son
   Occ:   Not In Sch
Elizabeth R. JAFFERY   U   13    F   Johnstone, Renfrew, Scotland
   Rel:   Daur
   Occ:   Not In Sch
Thomas JAFFERY       10    M   Johnstone, Renfrew, Scotland
   Rel:   Son
   Occ:   Not In Sch

It indicates Mary was born around 1828, in Dalry, Ayr

On IGI is a Mary LANGWELL born 21 Sep 1828, Father David LANGWELL but no mother listed - Batch number is C115875 .

On that same Batch Nr are 20 other births for LANGWILL &  LONGWILL in Dalry btw 1825 & 1847. The only LANGWELL is the one for Mary.  There is a Jean 1826 and  a Margaret 1830 with father David LANGWILL (again no mother).  The marriage on IGI for David and Jean BRAUN is under LANGWELL.

Not sure if you want to expand back or forward from your posted details , or what it was you were looking for on SP that produced no results?

Cheers
Anne :)
