Hi Chris

First, Plomesgate is not a place, just a registration area.

Only 1 in 1861 Census that falls within district of Plomesgate is:

1861 - Saxmundham, Suffolk

George Watling    Head   59     born Saxmundham
Charlotte Watling  Wife   58     born Carlton, Suffolk
William Watling      Son    18     born Saxmundham
Maria Watling         Dau    15    born Saxmundham

Ref. RG9 - 1177 - 69 - 8.

No trace of a Maria Watling in 1891.

Plomesgate is also the name of one of the Hundreds of Suffolk, but now mostly comes under Suffolk Coastal District Council.

There were 23 parishes within the Plomesgate Hundred, but those 23 parishes plus 16 of the 18 parishes of Loes Hundred and Wickham Market (in Wilford Hundred) comprised the Plomesgate Union.
The Plomesgate Union Workhouse was at Wickham Market.

Sooooo, if you have a reference for Plomesgate you may have to pin down which of the 23 parishes it might be - and Saxmundham is, as Annette has found for you, right in the middle of Plomesgate  ;D

Pat ...

Every time I find an ancestor,
I have to find two more!

SUFFOLK - Pendle, Stygall, Pipe, Fruer, Bridges, Fisk, Bellamy, Sparham - all link to  Framlingham
DERBY - Bridges and Frost (originally Framlingham/Parham)
NOTTINGHAM - Lambert & Selby
BERKSHIRE/then Hammersmith LDN - Fulker
LDN/MDX - Murray, Clancy, Broker, Hoskins, Marsden, Wilson, Sale

GGfather Michael Wilson born Cork, lived Fulham London - moved to Boston USA 1889, what happened next?

Wouldn't Maria have married by 1891 or is she the wife of a WATLING?

Rick :)
