Chrissie - the name Dones is certainly not a traditional one in Bucks. But what you need to do is spend a fiver on www.1837online.com to find the GRO reference number for his birth. Then £7 to buy his birth certificate. That will give you his parent's names, residence and his father's occupation. Then you track the father in the same way. Next you will try to find this family on the 1901 census and use that information to take you further back - generation by generation. There  really is no other way. None of us have easy access to birth records for 1918 - we would also have to buy units from 1837online. 8)
Southern or Southan [Hereford , Monmouthshire & Glos], Jenkins, Meredith and Morgan [Monmouthshire and Glos.], Murrill, Damary, Damry, Ray, Lawrence [all Middx. & London], Nethway from Kenn or Yatton. Also Riley and Lyons in South Africa and Riley from St. Helena.
