I'd suspect HP = Highland Park.  I thought that the word that you interpreted as Sambir was an occupation, but maybe not.

I think shellyesq is correct in that the word "Sambir" when I look at it appears to be a shortened version of "assembler".

Could well be a shortened version of assembler.
Thanks to you both :)

I will have to look again about the Samuel in 1920 with all of those children.

The Samuel Truscott in Detroit on the 1920 census was 44, born England, immigrated in 1904 and was married to a woman named Jane who was 43, born England and immigrated in 1907. The children listed range in age from almost 3 to 23. One daughter is married and her husband and 2 young children are in the household. It appears that Samuel and Jane were married before emigrated as the eldest three children were born in England and have the immigration year as Jane. This Samuel definitely isn't the Samuel who arrived in 1920 but perhaps is another branch of the family.

As I said in my earlier post, it is unlikely that your Samuel was on the 1920 census since he arrived after the date of the census. I know that the US census was usually taken over a number of days however given that your Samuel arrived in New York on the 5th, it still would have taken a little time for Samuel to reach Detroit so if he were on the 1920 census, chances are he was enumerated somewhere other than Detroit. The chances are greater though that he isn't on it.

By the way, Kate and her daughter Elina Maud arrived in New York on 24 Nov 1920 aboard the Olympic.

Thanks for that.
Whether they are related to the ones that I am looking for I don't know.

I have just had a quick look at the BMD and a Samuel Truscott married Jane Husband in 1896 at St Austell which wouldn't be in the area that I am looking at.

Now had a look at  Ellis island and there is a Jane Truscott May 26th 1906 whose last residence was St Austell and she is travelling with her children and her husband is Samuel and he is living in Michigan.
Her children are Florrie,Harry and Samuel.

I have been very lucky today not only finding information about the Ivey's but also the Truscotts.

Those children names do match up with the 1920 census. Florence is the one who was married with 2 children.

Samuel, Jane and two of their children (Florence and Harry) are on the 1901 census in Sparnon, Cornwall (Piece: 2215; Folio: 72; Page: 11). That Samuel is listed as being born in St Austell, Cornwall.

There is a Samuel Truscott who is the right age and born in St. Austell on the 1891 census in Boldventure with parents named John and Jane (Piece: 1822; Folio 87; Page 14). There was another Samuel C. Truscott who was the right age but born in St. Stephens, Cornwall. That Samuel was living in St Stephen with parents named George and Mary (Piece: 1825; Folio 34; Page 1).

I don't know whether he would be a relative of the Truscott that I am interested in but that information may be useful at a later date.
