Does any one know where Jackson Street was located in Birkenhead in the 1870 to 1875 year range.
I think is was in the St John's district.
If anyone knows where it is located can you provide a map of the area

Many Thanks
Bob

Hi

Jackson St is still there today, if you search on the link below and then zoom in you will see Jackson Street just east of Birkenhead Central Railway Station. I don't know about 1870 to 1875 but around 1900 it was longer. It continued south past todays Waterloo Place, and a part of the northern end has disappeared, probably when the Mersey Tunnel was built in the 1930s

You can see Jackson Street as it was then, on the 1874-76 map at http://www.old-maps.co.uk/maps.html?coords=332410,388468
