Hi Joan,

there are free to search Old Bailey Records online--- these may give you details of your ancstors trial, if this is where the trial coccurred... worth a look.

Hi Joan
The only Shadwell listed on my Tasmanian Convict CD is for a MARY SHADWELL per the "Lady Nelson", arrival date given as 1/7/1812.

There are a number of records for this lady if you require them.   In the remarks column states ' to NSW per Friends.  Tried Launceston July 1836".

Regards

Hi All, I can only say how marvellous Rootschat is!  Thanks to all the replies and helpful info I seem to be on track of my Shadwell. The info I was given originally was incorrect he was not transported but went quite voluntarily!!  The main problem was that he changed his name not quite sure why but still. Once again many many thanks to you all hopefully if anyone else looks at the site it may prove helpful to them also. Joan :)
