It's not quite a dying art, my 13 year old daughter has just passed her sewing machine driving test at school, she is now officially allowed to use a sewing machine in Home Ec  (or whatever stupid name they decide to give it this year)

Dear Prue,
Yes, it is absolutely gorgeous....the backing material is a fairly coarse slub linen that is lighter than the photo shows, and it really highlights the pinny. The perspex box is very sleek and unobtrusive, and the pinny has come up a real treat.....cleaned up well and looks charming.
 
It is my father's 80th on Monday, so I can't wait to give it to him. :D :D

....and I have acquired (as a lend) a wonderful memorial poster made for my great grandfather that I will get cleaned and then copied, so I now will be exploring the world of paper conservation!
