Hi dhobson,

Welcome to RootsChat :)

I'm going to move your post to the Europe board, because that's where the experts "hang out" :)

Check out some of the tips in the Europe Resources board as well.

And a concrete question, can you you give us some dates and place names, in Britain and Italy ??
That will help us to find them.

regards,
Bob

Thank you. :)

All i know is they moved to Manchester, from what Part of Italy i'm curious to know myself.

My great grandfarther Francis Toboni was born in 1897. i'll try to get more info from my grandmother, but i'm not hoping for much because she's 85 and her memory is not what it once was.

freebmd.rootsweb.com
shows some possible births, including Francis in 1897.

http://www.1911census.co.uk/
shows them with 5 children - John (recorded on freebmd as Giovanni), Amelia, Francis (Frank on census), Mary, and David.

Also perhaps look here:

Hi,

that's the big problem with "foreigners" - most documents, whether BMD certificates or census returns will only tell you the Country of birth; any more than that is a question of luck - and you usually have to buy the certificates first, just to find out if you got lucky :(

Bob

Hi,
I am trying to find out about a Mary Granelli born around 1899 who lived in Sheffield, there seem to be many braches to this family, she married a Walter Snape in 1918.
