If it's any help:

On the 1901 in Bannockburn, Robert is down as aged 29 - thus b.c. 1872. His marriage cert of 1895 has him as 24 - thus. b.c. 1871 and his death cert gives him as 50 in 1928 - thus b.c. 1878

*The only Robert Dickson, b. Ireland showing on the 1881 and 1891 has parents James and Jane Dickson(all b. Ireland)  - b.c. 1871-2

*added - this one is not showing on the 1901 apart from Robert m. to Jeanie

It's usually more likely that the marriage cert is correct because Robert is more likely to know his parents' names than his son John would. However, I have seen instances where this isn't so.

I think that I'd look for a Thomas, Robert and James Dickson as a poss father. The mother's name seems to be consistent though - Jane (Mc)Connel(l).

Sorry - I'm no good with Irish records. Agadowey's one of the experts  :)

Hi,
I have searched various sources for the marriage throughout Ireland without success. The closest I have come is 17 Apr 1846 JAMES Dickson to Jane McConnell in Mountjoy Presbyterian Church, Omagh, Co Tyrone. This is possible but it seems a bit early.
