The Philippines - Miguel Vicente Da Silva
« on: Sunday 22 February 09 06:50 GMT (UK) »
The above named person is said to be the father of my wife's grandfather, Josa da Silva (also known as Jose or Joseph Marcos de Silva) born about 1872. He married on 23rd of May 1901 in New Plymouth, New Zealand and in the marriage announcement published in the local paper of the 25th May 1901 it was stated that Josa was the second son of Minguel (possibly Miguel) Vicente da Silva of Manilla, Philippine Islands.

Are there any records of Minguel Vicente Da (or de) Silva in census, marriage, birth or death records in Manilla.

Also is there any record of the birth of Josa (or Jose) Marcos (or Marcella) da Silva and his unknown older brother.

Any help whatsoever on this would be very much appreciated.

I would also mention that  until we found this newspaper announcement we believed that Jose Da (or de) Silva was born in Argentina.  It's all a bit of a mystery.
