Lynch, Spillissy and Galvin
« on: Monday 14 February 05 07:57 GMT (UK) »
My ancestors were Thomas Lynch and Norry Spillissy who left County Clare and settled in Ripon in Yorkshire sometime between 1844 and 1851. I think they married in Kilrush in 1840.

Their son John was born about 1844 in Clare. A daughter Mary was born about 1842. She married Michael Galvin, also from Clare in Ripon in 1869.
The 1881 census shows this entry for the family

5 Waddingtons Yard, Aismunderby Cum Bondgate, York
Rg11, Piece, 4318, Folio 128, P 18
Michael Galvin, 37, Ag Lab, B Clare , Ire
Mary Galvin, 33, Wife, B Clare, Ire
Esther Galvin, 13, Daur, B Ripon
Tom Galvin , 10, Son, B Ripon
John Galvin, 7, Son, B Ripon
Mat Galvin, 6, Son, B Ripon
Ned Galvin, 3, Son, B Ripon
Jim Galvin, 6m, Son, B Ripon

I cannot find any trace of the Galvins after 1881 and would love to know where they disappeared to.

Anyone with any connections to this family.

Am   also researching Galvin but mine came from Westmath and landed in New Zealand.

In my searching I have found many Galvins from Ireland in New Zealand and even more in Australia, some of whom were convicts.  Could be worth a try.
