Vigous/Vigurs/Vigos/ etc
« on: Monday 14 February 05 09:54 GMT (UK) »
Im looking for a John Vigurs (alternate spellings aplenty) in the 1841 Census.
His family were all in the Necton Workhouse..............he isn't with them.
They are all together again on the 1851 census in Necton

He was a shoe/boot maker, and said he was born in London/Middlesex

He would have been 43years old

Any help much appreciated

It appears he married in 1826.
11 August 1826 Necton
John Millet Viges and Lydia Pearson

I dont have time to look at the census for 1841 at the moment as it is badly written and difficult to read on my cd copy.  Have you checked all of Necton?

I live in Norfolk if you need general Norfolk info.

I believe I've checked all of Necton, but as you say............the census is hard to decipher .
I also checked in his fathers area (Bedfordshire) but he wasnt with him either.
Maybe he was abroad, or as he was a boot maker, perhaps travelling around the country looking for work.
I think it will be pure luck if I  ever find him on the 1841 census.

thanks
