No it's not me that lives in UK. I live in New Zealand. The only member of my family living in the UK that I know of, is Sheevaun, one of my Mothers sisters daughters.

Hello! I'm new to Roots Chat, and to family tree research in general. That is, until I visited my 87 year old cousin in New Zealand and learned about my grandfather - Seering Frederick Matthews, who married Jennie Court. She is a mine of anecdotal stories about 'Fred', but I am trying to piece together what happened after he any Jennie moved with his family from Auckland to Sydney. Apparently he 'joined up', but to what regiment I don't know - or what happened to him in the intervening years before he came back to Australia.
If anyone can fill in these gaps I would be grateful, and can share what I have found out about him.

Seering Hall Matthews  (died 14th Jan 1892) and his wife Jane Elizabeth are buried in Reading Old Cemetery, Reading, Berkshire.

We are leading a project commemorating people buried in the cemetery and we came across Mr Matthews. His epitaph says that he was 'Clerk of Works for R.E. dept). If you would like to share information about his life story, we would be interested to know and publish on the site: www.readingoldcemetery.uk.

I am a new member and cannot send a PM yet.

Thank you

I have prepared two genealogy reports (ancestors and descendants) that I can send to you and have got them ready as PDFs
These will explain the strange first name of Seering

I do not wish to make these details public on this site

Please can you give me an email address I can send them to as attachments

Do the graves of Seering and his wife give their respective date of births?

Are you able to take photos of the gravestones for me?

Thanks

Gerry
