........................

I couldn't immediately see him in 1901 but the 1901 census for Deal doesn't survive so we won't find him if he was actually living in Deal at that time.

John VERRIER married (possibly) 1854 Eastry RD, John VERRIER married Dinah BERG 1877 Eastry RD, John VERRIER died Eastry RD 1903 age 86 http://freebmd.rootsweb.com

Nowhere, in any of these records, can I see that he has any second names of "Jane Keeling" plus his birth age usually puts him as born nearer 1818 than 1823 thus I still suggest that he was the plain "John VERRIER" baptised 1818 at Deal.

Hi Casalguidi,
Thank you so much for all the info, I tend to agree that John was born 1818, it fits in better with the info I had to date.  I had him as plain John but picked up something recently that had him as John Jane Keeling VERRIER which I thought a bit odd.  This chatting online is new to me but I think it is great.  Thanks again will check out all your info properly now. Regards, lynbod.

Funny thing about ann jane keeling verrier is that she named her son wiliam charles also.....
She is also listed as Jane Ann keeling verrier on william charles halliwell's birth certificate in 1860.
She is listed as Ann Jane Keeling Hallawell when she died in 1863.

I emailed Kent Archives recently as I found reference on net re Verrier family history notes in their possession.  Got answer Tuesday to say yes they had notes and a large family tree on a roll 20ft x 3ft plus 4 ring binders, each 100 pages containing original documents, photos, copy wills and research notes, but too huge a collection to make photocopying a reality.  What I would do to see this collection but Australia is a little too far to pop into Kent Archives.  A bit cheeky, but don't suppose anyone out there is in a position to view this wonderful collection.

Yes, I have been into this site, it's amazing, so much of my family here but still only part way through as I want to prove the info before I accept it, but a lot of work has gone into it.  Have tried to contact the author of this site but no luck so far, would love to know more about the researcher and how he has obtained so much info.

Yes I agree.
It is amazing how many people obtain information without cross checking it.
I have even obtained birth and marriage certificates and still been fooled.
Several times I've gone down the wrong path.
I think that some of my more obscure indirect family members probably aren't the real ones.
I ensure that my direct line are legit and it can be very difficult.
His research has my relative dying in the year she married so that bit is wrong, what else...

Just got back from weeks cruise in Nth. Qld., fluked some good weather.  Yes I agree, everything has to be checked so thoroughly and then you can't always be 100% sure, but we never stop searching do we?  Will be back in family tree mode in a couple of days, met a fellow genealogist on cruise with same name and same district in England, may not be related yet, but you never know if their is a connection, it's a small world.
