Can't thank you enough for turning up so much stuff for us.
Christina McRitchie, b. April 7 1824
Margaret McRitchie, b. May 8, 1826
Their father James McRitchie, b. May 16 1798  ....all North Queensferry in the parish of Inverkeithing, Scotland
These girls were my great-greataunts who left North queensferry because there wasn't enough to go round. They must have been very brave to tackle such a journey though it's no more than all the other emigrants had to endure. I was quite moved to find out what happened to them.

You two never stop digging! My family would never have thought we would learn so much, still less in such a short time.
Thanks for the cemetery address, I found the location on the excellent Necropolis website and I think I can see Margaret's grave on Google Earth, beside it is her daughter and Emil, beside them their children.
Jenn, in your reply #4 you mention a Stephens Ctina died age 76 in 1902 in Melbourne East, is there a site I might find death info, or have you this database on CD or similar? The date is about right as Christina was born on April 7 1824. It would be great to find her grave as well.
In reply #6 you mention an NAA site with nationalisation record for Emil Sichau, any idea where he came from? (My guess is German or Austrian)

Hello Michael,
Now, without certificates, we cannot be certain of anything but her e is a marriage which fits  for Christina's daughter, Caroline.
It is in NSW.[Not sure why the A in Christina]

There are details on this site as to how you may order a certificate, but It is a cheaper option to get a transcription through an agent.  It is a safe and proven process.
I will try to find the exact reference for their contact in a minute.

Hi Michael,
You can look for yourself on the bdm search, but I see no less than 14 births to the couple in Manly.

Just getting back to her mother, Christina whose probable death JENN found in 1902.

As it occurred close to central Melbourne, a likely burial location would be Melbourne General Cemetery.

This does not, as yet have, online search facility, though it has been promised for a long time and will be located at the same site as St Kilda and Springvale which  have given you.

There is an enquiry service however and again I will have to hunt it out for you.

Jenn has not given the registration number on the death entry but she will I am sure, so that you can if you wish order this certificate.

Victoria has a different method and you can download immediately to your computer.

Be warned it is sooooo easy and becomes a terrible temptation
Costs about $25
It appears though that her parents are not listed on the certificate so that may make identification less certain.

Must get out for my walk between the little rain showers.
