Sarah is right. I have heard stories where churchyards khave become full, but the person who looks after the log (for want of a better word) has a list of lairs etc. where the stones have fallen or become illegible, but each grave/lair has a lot no. and stone no. so if it exists, it can be found. Just like a plan of a house there are usually plans of graveyards which may help you find your heritage.
