Although I am a Northumbrian, my job took me and my family from Penrith, Cumberland to Billingham in early 1970s ( My kids have Stockton accents)

And I ventured to Haverton Hill a few times to see/experience the Transporter Bridge... you got across the River Tees by stepping onto the bridge , alongside motor traffic... and the bridge moves and "transports" us over the river !
