Watts/Tye family
« on: Saturday 28 February 09 19:38 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find the marriage of Ann or Rebecca Watts to a Mr Tye c1850's Wokingham/Berkshire.  One of the daughters of Isaac & Rebecca Watts (nee Archer).
In the same family I have a Agnes Sophia Watts born 1836 Wokingham who married a T R Davis of Newmarket, Canada West.  I dont know if T R Davis was a widower when he married Agnes or that she was a widow, or that he went on to marry someone else. Any help would be gratefully received.

Free BMD Marriage
1855 Thomas Roberts davies and Agnes Sophia Watts

September quarter 1856 Rebecca Maria Watts (Mr Tye not named but a bridegroom missing)
There is nothing in the full indexes to match for a Mr Tye  ???

Though I have no known links to the Watts family I have been researching the name Tye for many years (not in Berkshire). Just a thought, please do keep a lookout for the spellings Tighe and Tigh, also Toye.  If your Mr Tye turns out to have any links to Salford, Manchester, Rugby or Coventry I would love to know.
Good luck.

I believe Agnes may have gone to Canada - Newmarket as the bridegroom was from there, family story goes.  I was looking for Rebecca Watts born 1975 or Ann Watts born 1799 who may or maynot have married a Mr Tye.  51 Thanks for what you have found for me.  I noted on the 1851 Census it mentions employing two men from Romsey.  The Watts family were from Romsey originally.
The Rebecca you found was the niece of the one above,  she was my great grandmother.

Hi Trish,

Just to say it was James who was born Romsey not the two men - I think you already have him in your family, married to Christiana Glanville.

If Rebecca and/or Ann married Mr Tye c 1850 they would be both 50+ so possibly married previously - do you haveany other information?

All I have is a letter which says one of the Watts daughters married a Mr Tye and had two children, Lizzie Watts Tye & Edward Watts Tye,  in the letter it mentions that Edward was at Ipswich, but I dont know why.  I dont have dates only the daughters of Isaach/Isaac & Rebecca Watts- dau rebecca born 1795 Romsey & Ann born 1799 Romsey.  Regards Trish
