Jabez Newton born 1820 - COMPLETED
« on: Sunday 01 March 09 14:59 GMT (UK) »
Hi I am looking for information on Jabez Newton he was born in Macclesfield I think abt 1820.
He married Charlotte Stubbs in 1844. They had 2 children Edward and William.

Any info on his parents or when he died. He is in 1851 Census but not 1861. He moved to Stoke.

Many thanks in advance.  :)

Did Jabez have a brother called William - did Jabez come from Barthomiley before going to Stoke.

This is from my husbands family so I don't have too much info.

William Newton a farmer moved to Stoke area and had several childen. One of these children had 3 sons (I was told triplets but it was not right). One was Issac - - - -

A couple of Newtons worked at Workhouse in Stoke - including Isacc's son Albert as hairdressers.

Years later a bank folded and the families lost all and one link (my husbands) went to Stalybridge, more back to Macclesfield including William, and more to West Bromwich etc.

I have a contact in West Bromwich although I am not researching Newton.

The only possible information that I have (I have not confirmed this) is Jabez might have had brothers Reuben,Joseph and Isacc all born in Macclesfield.

Jabez married Charlotte in 1844 and had 2 children William and Edward (Confirmed).

I looks like different people to me mine born in Macclesfield.

I still think we are very distantly connected but see this.

I found my contact through GenesReunited and decided to check her tree on that site in case she had added a Jabez.   I could not remember her name so entered a search for Jabez Newton born 1820 perhaps her tree would come up.    Four people are researching him - two have him born in Macclesfield and the other two show birthplace unknown BUT my contact in West Bromwich was not one of the four.

I don't know if you are one of these 4 researchers.  I leave it up to you to decide about Genesreuinted.  I am going to see if any of my other Newtons / spouses come up with these other four researchers.

William Newton who may be Jabez's brother was born c.1842 Barthomiley and moved to Stoke,  he married Mary Ann Wilshaw on 28 Jan 142 St. Margarets Church in Wolstanton, Staffs.

This is the man who had some two sons James and Jacob in Newcastle under Lyme and two including John and Isaac in Manchester and lots other children I think.
