William COLMER b abt.1791
« on: Monday 02 March 09 20:27 GMT (UK) »
Hopefully this is the correct board to post to.
I'm trying to trace the ancestors of William Colmer b abt. 1791.  Below is the information that I already have about him:
William Colmer b. abt. 1791 North Devon, d. 1872 age 82 Honiton.
William Colmer b. abt. 1791 (calc. from census info.)
Registration of Marriage Alwington 6 Aug. 1818 - William of Littleham and Jane of Alwington (Jane Butler, I'm pretty sure)
I've tried to search parish records for Littleham via the IGI but no luck.
3 Alwington baptisms for William & Jane's children:
Ann Butler Colmer 31 Jan 1819 - Ford
William Colmer 19 Aug 1821 - Ford
Susan Butler Colmer 28 Mar 1824 - Ford
Abbotsham baptism record for 4th child:
James Colmer 19 Dec 1830 - Alwington
Parkham baptism record for 5th child:
John Colmer 6 Oct 1833 - Alwington
1841 Census - in Ford - William, Jane, Susan, James & John (also a Philip Butler age 80) - Ann and his son William are elswhere
1851 Census - in West Hill, Ottery St. Mary, Devon.  Farming a 15 acre farm with Jane, Susan and a hired farm hand.  Here William lists his birth place as Frithelstock, Devon.  I searched the baptism transcripts I could find but they don't go back far enough.  (I did find a Peter Colmer born to John & Elizabeth Sep 7 1800)
1854 - wife Jane dies Honiton (FreeBMD)
1861 Census - in Ottery St. Mary living as retired farmer with his daughter Susan and her husband Isaac Cann.
1871 Census - can't find him
1872 - dies Honiton (FreeBMD)

Any help would be great

There is an OPC for Littleham near Bideford - Ethelda Peshko - she has the PRs and will do free look-ups.

I checked Frithelstock pre 1800 - no trace, but there is a William COLWELL baptised (per transcript) - suggest asking the transcriber Betsy Rubel to check that one.
