Occupation identification please

Can anyone please identify the occupation attached please (Something to do with narrowboats)
I have Captain Master, Captains Wife, but cant identify the third one, any suggestions please

It looks to me like Assistant and the -do- might refer to the Master part of the first entry.

S and F seem to have been interchangable at the time.
I have some documents referring to an address MOSS FARM and others where it is written MOFF FARM

Hi Bubblewrap,

They are strictly speaking not an f but a long s - if written properly there shouldn't be a stroke right through the s version.  With a double s it was grammatically correct to make the first s long and the second short, as in the assistant.  I would have thought use of long s was rather old fashioned by the time of this census though.

if you have clear knowledge that your ancestors were engaged in the maritime trade then ok, but if not, the term captain (& assistant) can easily be associated with 'foreman'(& asstant) in almost any trade

More info needed perhaps, such as do you have any merchant, or Royal Nave records, photos-dated-that will help?
