« on: Tuesday 15 February 05 21:07 GMT (UK) »
Hi All

Can anyone please help with 1841/1851 lookups for William WITTERICK or WITTRICK, Carpenter in 1860, and his daughter Mary Ann, born c1838 in Wereham (in later censuses her birthplace is down as Wareham, Norfolk).

Thanks
Del

Sorry I cannot find these people......I have tried every varient I can think of....There is actually a Mary Witrick born in Wereham a servant...Also in the parish is Thomas and Sarh both 70 and dau Sarah 39 living at home.. so this Mary probably connects there...Perhaps your Mary is the dau of these peoples son? Under this spelling there is also a James born 1833 an apprentice Cordwainer also born Wereham...Unfortunately if that is the case they do not appear on the 51 census...I cannot find any under any other spelling I have thought of...they just do not appear...Sorry  Kris  :'(

In 1841 the only Wittericks I found were these and it looks like the start of a sad story.

Hannah Witterick  13
Eliza      Witterick  7/9
Mary ann   "           4
Susan        "           4
Charlotte   "           2

Beside this entry was Father out of house and then that was crossed out or badly underlined!!!

Next to the names Mary Ann and Susan was the word twins that also was crossed out. Sometimes on the census they crossed things out as they were checked over so could mean nothing.

Any way these 5 girls were on their own. Perhaps the mother had died and the father was off looking for work.
Could your Mary Ann have been a twin???

Sorry I didn't say they were all living in Wereham.

All the best Angela.

1841/1861/1871 Rust family Fincham
« Reply #4 on: Wednesday 16 February 05 21:05 GMT (UK) »
Could some possibly look up the following family?

1841
Joseph Rust born Staffordshire
Mary Rust born Ashill

Children

Gathercole Rust (1851 Ruest)
Stephen
Susan
maybe more?

I'm not sure if Mary died before 1841. In 1851 Joseph Rust is in Fincham with Thomas Southcole . Mary's brother James is with Joseph 1851.

I would also be interested in any info on James Gathercole born Ashill about 1795 in 1841,1861,1871 (if still alive)

Thanks
