Inquest - Death of William Mounsey

I have received today a death certificate of my ancestor William Mounsey (12 Aug 1865) of Botchergate, Carlisle. He died falling from a crane. The age on the certificate states 58 although I reckon he was about 45 so I'm not entirely sure if he is the right one I was looking for. He is likely as his last child was born in 1865 and Ann his wife was a widow by 1871. And there is only one William Mounsey that fits between these dates.
No family is mentioned in the certificate to verify against only the Deputy Coroner John Lee for East Cumberland. The inquest was carried out the same day.

Can anyone help me get any further information or point me in the right direction.

Maybe as you have the exact date of his death you can find something in a local paper?  It would have been news one would think- maybe the inquest also.
A local library may have archived copies of papers.

Just past the end of Botchergate, there was the world famous crane makers, Cowen and Sheldon but I don't know their start up date. In fact there is now a pub called The Cranemakers near to where the site was.

I finally found a newspaper report of the inquest, however annoyingly they reported the wrong name! The name was William Murray. Just goes to show you need to broaden your search in order to find what you need. The inquest goes into a lot more detail and the fact he left a wife and five children.

Do you have him with a wife and children in 1861 census - how old was he there?

Yes he was living at High Pow, Upperby then,  with his wife and five children he was 41. His death certificate has his age as 58. The certificate concurs with the accident, inquest and informant being the coroner.

There are a couple of newspaper items that do name him correctly as William Mounsey. The items are the same, just printed in different newspaper.
